Ry-Ty

Our first stop on our trip was to Lindsay’s house.  Rylie & Tyson are so excited to have a cousin!  Tyson called me on Wednesday night to ask when Baby Rachel would be to his house.  He also wanted to save a cupcake and a sucker for her.  When Lindsay explained to Rylie & Tyson that Rachel only drinks milk, they were totally confused.  There was still a cupcake when we got there Friday morning.  This was their first experience with a baby.  The only baby Rylie has ever held was Tyson.  When Lindsay tries to get Tyson to play with the babies at church, he tells her, “I don’t like babies.”  This left us all a little curious as to how Rachel would be received.

As you can see, Tyson was madly in love with her from the beginning!  When we were still in the hospital, Tyson called and sang Happy Birthday, Baby Rachel!  Fortunately, I missed the call and Tyson left it on my voicemail.  Every now and then, I replay it for Rachel and she turns toward the phone looking for someone.  She finally got to meet the person behind the voice this weekend and loved him just as much as he loves her!  He later sang Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, and received the same big smiles!

Rylie was just as excited, but shows it in a different way than Tyson.  We’re going to flash back for just a second.  When Lindsay was in Kindergarten, Brad was born.  Lindsay got to take Brad to school for show-and-tell!  When she was in second grade, he went to class and did a book report presentation in her class.  Rylie just turned 5 in December and is in preschool.  Instead of show-and-tell, Lindsay’s preschoolers participate in talk-and-tell.  Rylie’s turn was Wednesday, two days before we came.  Since her mother is the teacher, she got to move her talk-and-tell day to Friday, using Rachel as her talk-and-tell subject!  Hopefully, Rylie and Rachel will have another opportunity to do something at school together again in the future.
